New Dragon Quest X Online Expansion Revealed

Square Enix announced that a new, sixth expansion for MMORPG Dragon Quest X Online will be coming to Japan in 2024. The “version 7.0” expansion is titled The Door to the Future and the Sleeping Girl, though no other details have been released at this stage. More details are planned to be revealed once the final story updates for the previous expansion are released.

Along with the expansion announcement, Square Enix also announced that the game’s current Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Wii U versions be ending service. Both versions will close on March 24, 2024. The game will continue on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch.

Dragon Quest X was originally released in Japan in August 2012 for Wii, and at various times has also been available on Nintendo Wii U, PC, Android, iOS, Nintendo 3DS, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch. A single-player version, Dragon Quest X Offline, was released in Japan for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, with the first expansion content released earlier this year. There has been no announcement regarding a western release for either the online or single-player games.
