Genshin Impact Version 4.0 Releasing Next Week

HoYoverse announced that free-to-play action RPG Genshin Impact will be getting a new major update soon. The Version 4.0 “As Light Rain Falls Without Reason” update will be available from August 16, 2023.

The update adds a fifth explorable nation to the world of Teyvat, Fontaine. Located northeast of the Sumeru desert and known as the Nation of Justice, Fontaine also acts as a hub for culture, art, and technology. Surrounding by water, it is currently ruled by the Hydro Archon and the God of Justice Forcalors. Under her rule, trials are now important public events at the Opera Epiclese, alongside other performances.

Fontaine will be the site for players’ first underwater adventure in the game. Players will not have to worry about running out of oxygen, but will have an Aquatic Stamina meter that it used when “sprinting”. Players can collect Recovery Orbs to restore stamina or swim through bubles to speed their up movement. There will also be underwater combat, which uses different techniques and lets players absorb abilities from certain creatures.

The Version 4.0 update will come with three new playable characters — all siblings — hailing from Fontaine. Lyney is the eldest and a famous magician. He is a five-star archer with the ability to use PYro magic, transform into a Grin-Malkin car, and launch fireworks during combat. Middle sibling Lynette acts as a Lyney’s assistant. She is a four-star Anemo-using sword wielder who demonstrates great speed. Finally, the youngest, Freminet, is an exceptional diver who is a four-star Claymore user. He can use a pressurised device to launch both Cyro and Physical attacks. Other additions in the update include graphics and control improvements to its PlayStation console versions, as well as new map and party setup upgrades and other optimisations.

Genshin Impact is a free-to-play action RPG that originally released in September 2020 and is available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android. Players control a character in the world of Teyvat known as “the Traveler” and must embark on a journey to find their missing sibling. They are joined by NPC companion Paimon, travelling in a party of up to four active members.
