Ryū ga Gotoku Studio Discusses Upcoming Like a Dragon Titles

Ryū ga Gotoku Studio held a RGG Summit Summer 2023 presentation for the latest titles in its Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise. The hour-long panel featured Executive Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama and covered elements of Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth, including some new game clips as well as talk with some of the games’ Japanese cast members. The full video can be viewed below, with timestamps for relevant clips listed. Further details about both games are expected to be revealed during a subsequent RGG Fall Summit in September 2023.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name is set between the events of Yakuza 6: The Song of Life and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth. The game follows regular series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, who is now operating under the codename “Joryu”, and features the locations of Sotenbori and Yokohama. Its story sees him thrust into conflict by a figure trying to drive him out of hiding. The action-adventure brawler will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.

Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth will feature two main protagonists with long-time series protagonist Kazuma Kiryu joining Ichiban Kasuga in the role. The game — originally announced as Like a Dragon 8 — is being developed for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S, and is planned to release worldwide in 2024. Ryū ga Gotoku Studio previously announced Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth is likely to continue using the turn-based combat system of Yakuza: Like a Dragon.
