Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis ver. 2 Update Releasing Next Week

Sega announced that its ver. 2 update for free-to-play MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will launch on June 7, 2023. The update will include the addition of the Creative Space, an evolution of the Personal Quarters feature in Phantasy Star Online 2. It will let players customise their own island using modifiable items called Build Parts. These items can be linked together with the Connect System, which lets players create activities like mazes and quiz games.

Island creations can be saved and shared as Designs, which lets other players replicate them within their own island, however, players will also need to obtain the Build Parts used by a Design to place it. Build Parts can be purchased using Genesis Points, which can be obtained by participating in Weekly Tasks and Limited-time Tasks.

In addition, the ver. 2 update will add Chapter 6, Part 1 of the game’s main story content as the characters prepare for their next battles against a newly-emerged threat. It will also include new skills for all classes, as well as a new cel-shading graphics option, and more. A new NGS Headline video presentation showcases the various changes and new content being added.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis takes place 1,000 years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2, with both titles running alongside each other. New Genesis is set on a new world and features a redesigned graphics engine, as well as a new multi-weapon system and abilities. The game is currently available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
