Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana Novelisation Announced

Dragonwell Publishing announced that it is producing an officially licenced novelisation of Nihon Falcom’s Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. The novelisation, titled Lacrimosa of Dana, is being written by Anna Kashina and is planned to release in fall 2023.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana was initially released in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017, followed by releases on PC and Nintendo Switch in 2018 and PlayStation 5 in 2022. The game follows longtime series protagonist Adol (and his partner Dogi) after they become shipwrecked on the Isle of the Seiren. The duo team up with other survivors to try and find a way off the island, while Adol has dreams of a mysterious girl from the past named Dana. Those looking to read more about the game can check out Mike Moehnke’s review of the PlayStation Vita version and Charalampos Papadimitriou’s review of the PlayStation 4 version.

Dragonwell Publishing provided the following synopsis for the novelisation:

When Adol Christin boards the passenger liner Lombardia for an easy voyage across the Gaete Sea, he has no idea this journey will land him shipwrecked on the mysterious Seiren Island, home of an ancient curse that has plagued these waters for millennia. Nor can he possibly imagine that this act of fate will throw him into a battle against primordial powers set out to destroy the entire human race. Joined by Dana, a powerful young woman from another era, as well as by a handful of the Lombardia survivors, Adol must save his species from extinction, or perish along with everyone he knows. But even if he wins, there is no guarantee that he can ever attain the ultimate prize — a future with Dana.
