New Release Round-Up (October 27, 2022)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.
Live by the Sword: Tactics
Tactical RPG Live by the Sword: Tactics is set in a world that is rebuilding after a terrible war. While the people are renovating their cities, a plot is discovered that threatens to bring the population back to ruin. The game includes multiple modes, including a story adventure mode, a challenge-based tactician mode, and competitive multiplayer.
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord
Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a follow-up to 2010’s Mount & Blade: Warband. The game is set on the fictional continent of Calradia and combines sandbox, action RPG, and strategy elements as players seek to raise their own army and claim their own glory. It takes place 200 years before the events of Warband with the Calradian Empire on the verge of collapse, with civil war and new groups seeking to establish their own power.
Queen’s Wish 2: The Tormentor
Party-based cRPG Queen’s Wish 2: The Tormentor is a follow-up to 2019’s Queen’s Wish: The Conqueror. Players control a child of the queen of the empire of Haven. After previously being tasked with reconquering rebel vassals as a rite of passage, players are forced to travel to the region of Rokaj while the queen is severely ill. The region is known for its brutal warriors and propensity to rebel, and players must prove themselves able to lead its populace and stave off a power struggle.
Relayer Advanced is a new updated version of mecha tactical RPG Relayer. Relayer is set in the year 2051 as humanity finds itself under invasion from an alien force called Relayer. Certain humans called Starchildren begin to discover unique powers bestowed upon them and become the only ones capable of piloting Stellar Gear, large mechs that are humanity’s sole answer to the Relayer. Relayer Advanced includes a reworked battle UI, as well as a new Recollection feature and new endgame content. The Advanced version will also be released on GOG.com on November 10, 2022, and as a free update for the existing PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of Relayer on November 18, 2022.
Star Ocean: The Divine Force
Star Ocean: The Divine Force features two main protagonists — Raymond and Laeticia — with players able to select which one acts as the primary viewpoint character. Raymond is a merchant captain forced to abandon ship and head for the remote planet Aster IV, while Laeticia is the crown princess of the planet’s Kingdom of Aucerius, who asks Raymond to use his advanced technological powers to save the kingdom from the neighboring Vey’l Empire. Like previous entries, the game features an action combat system. It also includes seamless transition from exploration, which includes the ability to take to the air, into combat.
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr
Warhammer 40,000: Inquisitor – Martyr is an action RPG set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe. Players create an Inquisitor and head to the Caligari Sector to investigate the reappearance of a previously missing warship. The next-gen Ultimate Edition versions include all previously released DLC, as well as 4k resolution support, higher resolution textures, enhanced shadows and physics, and cross-generation multiplayer. The PlayStation 5 version also includes DualSense controller features.
