Fallout 4 PS5, Xbox Series X|S Versions Announced

Bethesda announced that it will be releasing dedicated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of Fallout 4. The versions will launch sometime in 2023, and will be available as free upgrades for owners of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, with the game also getting an accompanying free PC update. The new versions will include performance and high resolution modes supporting higher frame rate or 4k resolution graphics, as well as bonus Creation Club content.

Fallout 4 is an open-world post-apocalyptic RPG taking place in New England, 210 years after a nuclear war devastated its retro-futuristic world. Players control a survivor of the war who was frozen in Vault 111, emerging centuries later and setting out on a quest to find their son, who had been previously taken from the Vault. Gameplay follows a similar style to previous titles Fallout 3 and Fallout: New Vegas. Players are able to switch between first-person and third-person views, while combat takes place in real-time, with players slowing down time and targetting specific enemy parts using V.A.T.S..

The game originally released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2015, while a VR version was released for HTC Vive in 2017. The game received six DLC expansions, included in a Season Pass, and supports Bethesda’s Creation Club, which let users access additional paid mods.
