New Release Round-Up (September 29, 2022)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Airoheart

Airoheart is inspired by classic top-down titles and is set in the land of Engard. It follows the eponymous hero Airoheart as he attempts to prevent his brother from unleashing an ancient sealed evil using the Draoidh Stone. The game underwent a successful Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign in 2020.

Sci-fi MMORPG Dual Universe has been in development for eight years, including two years in beta, and is billed as a single-server shared experience with a player-driven economy. The game is set in a distant galaxy, 10,000 years after the destruction of Earth. Players are able to create planetary bases and shops, as well as spaceships and space stations; earn money through mining or logistics; participate in combat as pirates, security, or mercenaries; and more.


Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the follow-up to Owlcat’s previous game, Pathfinder: Kingmaker. The game features both real-time and turn-based combat modes. Set in the Pathfinder universe, Wrath of the Righteous features a new campaign as players are tasked with repelling an incursion of demons from the Worldwound. Its “Enhanced Edition” version is also available as a free upgrade for PC and Mac owners


Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris

Action RPG Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris is part of the Sword Art Online game series, which follows its own separate continuity to the main light novel and anime series. Alicization Lycoris is loosely based on the main light novel and anime series’ “Alicization” story arc, which takes place in the Underworld, a virtual world where AIs act like humans.


The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero

Platform: PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero is the first title of the wider series’ Crossbell duology. It follows the members of the Crossbell Police Department’s Special Support Section, which has been newly established to help citizens and hunt monsters. Undungeon

Pixel-art roguelite action RPG Undungeon takes place after seven versions of Earth from different dimensions have collided together, creating a cataclysmic new reality known as The Shift. Players take on the role of the Herald, a being who must traverse time and space to face the keepers of each dimension and find the keys to restore reality.


Valkyrie Elysium

Platform: PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5

A new title in the Valkyrie series, action RPG Valkyrie Elysium follows a young Valkyrie entrusted with the fate of the world. She is tasked by the All-Father, ruler of the gods, with stopping Ragnarok and the destruction of the world. Those looking to read more about Valkyrie Elysium can check out Paul Shkreli’s impression of its demo. The game is also planned for release on PC in November 2022, with its PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions receiving a free content update at the same time.
