Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Anode Heart

Anode Heart is a monster-taming RPG set in a futuristic environment where physical and virtual reality have become almost indistinguishable. Players control an amnesiac robot called Seek aiming to find out who and what they are with the help of a net-born creature called Tama, and who is called upon to prevent a great calamity.


Astlibra Revision

2D action RPG Astlibra Revision is described as an ode to classic hack-and-slash sidescrollers and follows the protagonist and his talking bird companion Karon as they travel through time to find a girl that the protagonist met during his childhood. It is split into multiple chapters, with players able to customise their character build and play style through upgradable skills and equipment, plus different weapon types.

2D roguelite Astral Ascent is set in a modern fantasy world. It sees players controlling one of four different heroes as they attempt to escape from the Garden, an astral prison guarded by twelve bosses known as the Zodiacs. As players get stronger from their runs they will learn more about the story and characters. The game features full English voice overs as well as two-player local co-op.


Backpack Hero

“Inventory management roguelike” Backpack Hero puts players in the role of an adventurer taking on dungeons and foes with only what they can fit in their backpack. Inventory management is crucial, with items potentially having different effects when placed into different areas in the backpack. Players can also upgrade their base town and rescue animals, unlocking new overworld content.


Invincible Presents: Atom Eve

Visual novel adventure and RPG hybrid Invincible Presents: Atom Eve is based on the Invincible superhero comic franchise that ran from 2003-2018 and received an animated adaptation in 2021. It follows hero Atom Eve as she balances her life between being a superhero and a student. Players can develop relationships with other characters based on their choices, as well as wielding Eve’s powers in turn-based combat that is woven into its storytelling.


Jagged Alliance 3

Jagged Alliance 3 features new RPG elements for the strategy series, including character levels, perks, loot, and equipment. The game’s campaign sees players fighting for control over territories, training local forces, and establishing multiple squads as they control a mercenary force in the country of Grand Chien, which is in chaos following the rise of a brutal regime known as the Legion.


Persona 5 Tactica

Persona 5 Tactica is a tactical RPG spin-off to Persona 5. It sees the Phantom Thieves transported to another world, where they team up with the revolutionary Erina to fight the oppressive Legionnaires. The game will use a tactical combat system incorporating many of Persona 5’s combat elements, including the Baton Pass and Persona skills. Small Saga

Small Saga is a turn-based RPG set beneath the streets of London in the medieval kingdom of critters called Rodentia. The game follows mouse Verm as he sets out on a quest of revenge, partnering with other misfit rodents against the Yellow God of Death that took his tail. A Mac version will also be available soon.


Spirittea

Spirittea is rural-life RPG combining life sim and management elements where players fix up a bathhouse and help spirits find peace. The game takes players to rural East Asia, where a cat spirit named Wonyan hands over control of the bathhouse to the player after showing them all the spirits that need saving. In the game’s day-to-day structure, players can find local NPCs and spirits to help while taking part in activities such as bug-hunting and karaoke.


Super Mario RPG Remake

Super Mario RPG is a remake of the Super Nintendo title Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, which was originally developed by Squaresoft. It is the first RPG in the Mario franchise and sees Mario attempt to defeat Smithy, who’s stolen the seven star pieces of Star Road. Mario is joined in his quest by Bowser and Princess Peach, as well as original characters Mallow and Geno. The game features turn-based combat with a three-member party as well as 3D exploration and platforming elements.


The Last Faith

The Last Faith is a gothic mix of Metroidvania and Soulslike action RPG. Players control Eryk, who awakens in the game’s ravaged world without memory of his recent past. He soon discovers that his quest for salvation and answers is against the clock as his mind and conscience start to deteriorate.
