New Release Round-Up (September 22, 2022)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.
Divinia Chronicles: Relics of Gan-Ti
Action RPG Divinia Chronicles: Relics of Gan-Ti is described as an infusion of Zelda with titles like Secret of Mana. The game is set on Orio Island, where players are tasked with gaining the trust of the elemental god fairies and saving the Divine Tree. It features third-person combat with a magic system, full gamepad support, dungeons with puzzles, and some crafting and weapon upgrade elements.
Turn-based RPG Jack Move stars Noa, a vigilante hacker in the cyberpunk world of Monocity One. She looks to take down the megacorporation Monomind after her father goes missing. Combat takes place in cyberspace, with Noa able to customise her software to change roles mid-battle. Those looking to read more about Jack Move can check out Luis Mauricio’s review of its PC version.
No Place for Bravery
Top-down action RPG No Place for Bravery puts players in control of Thorn, an old solider looking to lay down his sword until he discovers that his daughter Leaf, who disappeared long ago, is still alive. He sets out with his foster son Phid on a quest that forces him to confront his past. Players are able to upgrade their character by beating major encounters or discovering secrets, with the combat encouraging quick strikes and parrying.
Open-ended life sim RPG Potion Permit is set in the town of Moonbury, which has always been wary of outsiders and reliant on traditional healing methods. However, the town mayor’s daughter falls ill and local methods are unable to heal her. Players control a chemist sent by the Medical Association to cure her while convincing the town of the usefulness of alchemic advancements.
Action RPG Soulstice follows Briar and Lute, two warrior sisters who have been reborn as a single being, Chimera. They are the only ones able to stop the Spawn of Chaos, beings invading the world from another plane. The game features a combo-based combat system with a large variety of weapons and customisation options.
The Outbound Ghost
Turn-based RPG The Outbound Ghost puts players in the role of a new spectral arrival in Outbound, a town inhabited by ghosts trapped in limbo. The player ghost helps others resolve their issues to let them pass on to the afterlife, while uncovering the mysteries behind their own death. The game features paper-style characters with turn-based battles and a badge system that lets players gain stat boosts and other effects. PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch releases are planned for later this year.
The DioField Chronicle
Real-time strategy RPG The DioField Chronicle is set on a continent ravaged by a war between the Empire and the Alliance. DioField Island’s Kingdom of Alletain is the only nation so far to have avoided the bloodshed, but soon finds itself drawn into the conflict due to its abundance of Jade, a mineral vital as an ingredient in magic. Players control Andrias, the leader of a mercenary group called the Blue Fox.
There Is No Light
There Is No Light is a post-apocalyptic pixel-art action RPG and is set in a world where humanity has been all but eradicated by a catastrophe. The remaining humans have been driven underground where they are ruled by the Church of the Great Hand. Players take on the role of a father attempting to save his child who’s been taken by the Church for a mysterious ritual.
