I like my games being as long or as short as they need to be. A 100 hour game that’s full of bloat and backtracking to pad it out to that length when it’s really a 15 hour story doesn’t, by default, make it a better game than the 4-8 hour game of the same price that’s paced better and tells a concise, well told, 4-8 hour story.
I guess that’s (potentially) my pretentious way of saying “Length to Beat” is less important to me than the quality of the experience and the fun factor of it all.
Oh, I am most certainly behind you in my Skies of Arcadia progress, Kelly. I just recently made it a little past Ixa’taka and don’t even have the Delphinus yet.
Anyway, QOTW: While I am generally of the “game should be as long as they need to be” opinion, I find myself appreciating shorter games more these days. With my ability to play a game for longer than its average time-to-beat, even a game I can finish in under 50 hours is considered short for me. XD
I like 80 -150 hour games, because the good ones normally have plenty of story to fill the time. Some of my favorites have been the trails of cold steel story and Persona 5.
I liked Star Ocean 4 and am not a YouTuber. Finished it twice back in the day and have bought every edition. Guess something is wrong with me?
Star Ocean 5 is a dumpster fire though.
