Beamdog Announces MythForce, Acquired by Aspyr

Developer Beambog, known for its Enhanced Edition releases of Dungeons & Dragons RPGs including Baldur’s Gate and Planescape: Torment, announced new title MythForce. The announcement was shortly followed by the reveal that publisher and developer Aspyr Media has acquired the studio. Beamdog will continue to operate as an independent studio under Aspyr Media.

MythForce is a first-person action roguelite inspired by 1980s cartoons and features co-op for up to four players. Players can fight as Victoria the Knight, Rico the Rogue, Maggie the Mage, and Hawkins the Hunter as they fight through the vampire lord Deadalus’ ever-changing dungeon and his minions. Though they go back to start with each defeat, players can level-up and gain artifacts and upgrades to make them more powerful for subsequent runs.

MythForce is in development for PC. The game will be released as an Early Access title on the Epic Games Store on April 20, 2022. The initial version includes “Episode 1” of the game, with a full release expected after roughly a year.
