Square Enix Announces The DioField Chronicle
During the latest PlayStation State of Play presentation, Square Enix unveiled The DioField Chronicle. The game is a fantasy strategy RPG featuring the “Real-Time Tactical Battle” combat system and is planned to release on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
The DioField Chronicle’s world is stated to feature fantasy, medieval, and modern-day influences. The game’s story focuses on the Kingdom of Alletain, which has enjoyed peace under the Shaytham dynasty for the last 200 years but finds itself under threat from two outside powers competing for its abundance of Jade, which is key for using magic. Players control an elite mercenary company called into action known as Blue Fox.
The game is being co-developed by Square Enix and Lancarse. It features character designs by Taiki (Lord of Vermilion III, IV) as well as concept art by Isamu Kamikokuryo (Final Fantasy XII, XIII) and orchestrated music from Ramin Djawadi and Brandon Campbell (Game of Thrones). The game’s official website is live and contains brief profiles for some of its major characters.
