NieR: Automata Animated Series Announced

To mark the fifth anniversary of NieR: Automata, Square Enix announced that an animation series based on the game is in production. No further details about the series, including a potential air date, have been revealed. A Japanese teaser website is live, with a 30-second teaser trailer showing some brief concept art viewable below.

NieR: Automata was originally released for PlayStation 4 and PC in 2017, with an Xbox One version released in 2018. The game is a distant sequel to 2010’s Nier as well as a spin-off of the Drakengard series. It follows YoRHa androids 2B and 9S as they fight for humanity against the machine invaders on Earth.
