Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Sandstorm Requiem Update Announced

During its latest Headline presentation for MMORPG Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, Sega announced the major “Sandstorm Requiem” update. The free update will release in December 2021 and include the continuation of the game’s story with its second chapter as well as a new region, new enemies, new characters, an increased level cap, and more.

The second chapter sees players travelling to the Retem region alongside Aina and Manon. The region features sand dunes, rocky terrain, and canyons, as well as new enemies equipped with heavy artillery. The update will increase the class level cap to 35, with each class receiving a brand new unique skill. In addition, new Wind, Light, and Dark Elemental Techniques will join the existing Fire, Ice, and Lightning ones. The update will also implement a new character title system.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a new game that runs alongside Phantasy Star Online 2. The game takes place 1,000 years after the events of Phantasy Star Online 2, is set on a new world, and features a redesigned graphics engine, as well as a new multi-weapon system and abilities. The game released in 2021 and is available in the west for Xbox One and PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store, while in Japan the game is available for PC and PlayStation 4, along with a Nintendo Switch cloud version.
