Mortal Shell’s The Virtuous Cycle Expansion Launching in August

Playstack and Cold Symmetry announced that Mortal Shells The Virtuous Cycle expansion will launch on August 18, 2021. The expansion will be available for $7.99/€6.99/£6.99 on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. That date will also see the game’s PC version be made available through Steam and GOG.com after previously being exclusive to the Epic Games Store.

The Virtuous Cycle features a new roguelike-style mode where enemies are restored and shuffled upon the player’s death. In the mode, players can find pillars that grant more than 100 new abilities that can be combined to customise and form new combat styles. The mode also adds Hadern as a fifth possessable shell in both the main game and the new mode as well as the new Axatana weapon.

Mortal Shell is an action Souls-like RPG where players possess the bodies of fallen warriors, using their shells as they navigate and battle across a desolate world. Each shell has its own combat style, with new talents and upgrades becoming available as players’ connections with them grow. The game released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in 2020 with dedicated PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions released in 2021.
