Yakuza: Like a Dragon Bond System Revealed

Sega provided more details on its newest title in the Yakuza series, Yakuza: Like a Dragon. The latest information and images cover the game’s new bond system, where protagonist Ichiban Kasuga can strengthen his relationships with his allies for an assortment of bonuses including enhanced abilities in the new party-based combat system, special bond skills, and the unlocking of new jobs.

Bonds can be strengthened by inviting one of Kasuga’s friends to certain play spots. Examples include the movie theatre, which grant additional bonuses if players select a movie that matches their tastes, and the restaurants, where players can participate in conversations over the meal. As bonds increase, special events will be unlocked where the characters open up to Kasuga and reveal more details about their background. Kasuga can hear them out and offer advice, potential granting extra attribute growths.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is the newest title in the series and is known as Yakuza 7 in Japan. The game stars a new protagonist, Ichiban Kasuga, and features the new area of Isezaki Ijincho in the city of Yokohama. It is set to be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on January 16, 2020, with a western release coming sometime later in 2020.
