Horizon Forbidden West Confirmed for Current-Gen Hardware

As part of its PlayStation 5 showcase, Sony today announced that Guerrilla Games’ upcoming Horizon Forbidden West would see a release on PlayStation 4 alongside the previously-announced PlayStation 5 version. The game is one of three titles seeing simultaneous current- and next-gen releases, the others being Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. To support the transfer to new hardware, owners of the digital versions of the PS4 games will receive free upgrades on either PS5 console, while those who purchase the physical versions of the games will receive a free upgrade on the standard PS5 with disc drive.

Horizon Forbidden West is the sequel to 2017’s Horizon Zero Dawn, and sees protagonist Aloy head west to explore a new frontier, roughly corresponding to the land between Utah and the Pacific Coast in present-day United States. The game broke the top 10 of RPGamer’s RPGs of the Decade feature. It is scheduled to release sometime in 2021.
