New Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night Update Incoming

ArtPlay and 505 Games have announced the launch date for the next update for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. The update will arrive for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 7, 2020, and the Nintendo Switch in late May or early June. Two new features will be added to the game, the first being the ability to play through the game as Zangetsu, who uses his full complement of sword abilities as well as several unique mechanics that consume MP. His interactions with the world differentiate from Miriam’s, so consumables, equipment, crafting, treasure chests, quests, and story cutscenes will be disabled.

The second major addition is that of a randomizer. The randomizer will generate rearranged versions of the base game using eight different parameters, including shuffling warp and save rooms, and randomizing drops and rewards from treasure chests. Seeds will be generated for each randomization that can be shared with others to compare against or revisit.

Released in 2019, Bloodstained is the long-awaited return of Koji Igarashi to the Metroidvania genre. Players take control of Miriam, a girl who has been cursed to slowly turn into crystal. After awakening from a ten-year coma, she enters a demon-infested castle to search for an old friend who suffered a similar fate.
