Trailer Highlights Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot’s Character Growth Options

Bandai Namco released a new trailer for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot ahead of the game’s launch next week. The three-and-a-half-minute video shows some of the additional ways players can power up their character in addition to the traditional experience point and level system.

Eating food — which can be taken directly from bushes, cooked at camp or by a specialist — grants both temporary buffs and permanent attribute increases. Players can also acquire new super moves by collecting coloured Z orbs across the game’s areas. Once enough orbs have been obtained, players can use them to unlock new moves or power up existing ones from the skill tree. Players will also need to use D medals, also found scattered across the game to train new attacks. Finally, the Community Board system allows players to undertake side quests and gain characters’ Soul Emblems. By placing these emblems on a board and increasing its rank, players can gain access to additional boosts.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an action RPG and will provide a retelling of the Dragon Ball Z anime and manga series from the viewpoint of Kakarot, better known as Goku. The game will be released worldwide on January 17, 2020, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
