Kickstarter Check-In: Nekojishi: Lin & Partners

Nekojishi: Lin & Partners is an adventure RPG from developer Studio Klondike currently undergoing a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign. The game is a follow-up to the visual novel Nekojishi and is based on Taiwanese folklore and animal spirits.

The game follows Liao, a young man who has the ability to see spirits in the real world, who becomes involved with three feline spirits. The game is set three years after the original Nekojishi and sees Liao struggling to make ends meet after leaving college. He and three spirits Lin Hu, Likulau, and Yan Shu-Chi start up Lin & Partners Architects LLP, an architectural firm that restores haunted locations by solving the problems of the spirits haunting them.

In the game, players explore the world and talk to characters, solve puzzles, and complete quests. Combat comes in the form of real-time debate battles, where players attempt to damage their opponents’ credibility using Inspiration Points and Augment Cards.

Nekojishi: Lin & Partners is being developed for PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch, and will be available in Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, English, and Japanese. At the time of writing, Studio Klondike is very close to its S$70,000 (around US$51,000) funding goal, with the campaign set to run until March 31, 2020. Those who pledge at least S$15 (around US$11) will receive a digital copy of the game, which is currently expected to launch in late 2021.
