Project Sakura Wars Demo, Other Details Revealed

Sega provided more updates on Project Sakura Wars ahead of its Japanese release in December. In addition to giving details on enemies and joint attacks, the company also announced a forthcoming demo version and released its newest character music video, this latest entry highlighting Huang Yui and Yang Xiaolong from the Shanghai Combat Revue.

The first enemy character introduced is Oboro, who attacks the Imperial Capital with previously-revealed character Yasha. He is skilled in magic and pilots an aerial Puppet Soldier called Arahabaki. Another type of Puppet Soldier confirmed to appear in the game is the Kyoukotsu, which appears to be an armour-clad lizard.

As part of their battles against these enemies, players will be able to unleash special joint attacks with each heroine, which can be activated once per battle after certain conditions are met. Unleashing the attack causes a brief animation to play, after which main protagonist Seijuurou and the corresponding heroine get a major attribute boost for a short period of time. New screenshots below show these new enemies, the joint attack animations, and the support characters Kaoru and Komachi in uniform.

The demo version of Project Sakura Wars will be released in Japan on November 21, 2019. It will let players check out the game’s adventure and combat portions, letting them wander around the Great Imperial Theater and see events created for the demo. It will also include the LIPS choice system and Seijuurou and Azami’s mechs in the combat section. The full game is set to be released in Japan for PlayStation 4 on December 12, 2019, with a western release planned for spring 2020.
