Mary Skelter 2 Opening, Combat Details Released
Idea Factory International has released the opening movie for Compile Heart’s Mary Skelter 2 ahead of the dungeon-crawler’s western release in October. The publisher also released a new batch of combat screenshots as well as providing some extra details about the combat system.
Players have six slots to fill in their party, each member getting one action per turn, but Otsuu and Nightmare Jack take up one slot and get two actions between them, either taking one action each or having one of them take both actions. However, if players overuse Nightmare Jack’s powers, his Mind Meter gauge will increase to the point where he turns into Ripper Jack and become uncontrollable. Otsuu can use her Counseling command to lower Jack’s Mind Meter gauge and turn back to normal.
There will be times when exploring where the party is ambushed by Nightmares, which move in real-time in the dungeon, including when players are browsing the menus. These ambushes are called Murder Hunts, with a white haze indicating when a Nightmare is nearby. Nightmares are invincible so players must aim to either destroy the Jail’s (dungeon’s) core, or hit the Nightmare’s weak points enough to stun it and escape.
Mary Skelter 2 will be released for Nintendo Switch in North America on October 22, 2019. The European release will follow a day later on October 23, 2019. The game will be digital-only in both regions, but will come with a Nintendo Switch copy of predecessor Mary Skelter: Nightmares that features revamped systems and balancing.
