Dragon Quest XI S Demo Now Available, Gets Some Gamescom Gameplay

A demo version of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age is now available for Nintendo Switch via the eShop. The demo will let players go through the opening portions of the game, and will allow save data to be transferred to the full release.

The game also appeared during the Nintendo Presents stream from this week’s Gamescom trade fair in Cologne. Series creator Yuji Horii and producer Hokuto Okamoto joined the hosts to show multiple elements of the upcoming Switch version, including its ability to switch between 3D and 2D modes.

Dragon Quest XI was originally released for PlayStation 4 in North America and Europe in 2018, winning RPGamer’s 2018 Game of the Year Award. Dragon Quest XI S will be released on Nintendo Switch on September 27, 2019. This enhanced version of the game will add new character-specific stories, an increased battle speed option, fully orchestrated field and battle music, and the ability to switch between HD and 16-bit visuals.
