Atelier Lulua Shows Its Combat
Koei Tecmo has released a new trailer, alongside some new screenshots, for Atelier Lulua: The Scion of Arland. The four-and-a-half-minute gameplay video highlights multiple elements of the game’s combat system.
Combat in Atelier Lulua involves a party of up to five members, three attackers and two in a support role. The attackers will undertake the various battle actions, while the support members will automatically perform Assist Attacks.
Attackers have unique abilities to draw on to try and hit enemy weaknesses, such as Eva’s Range Shift that expands the area she attacks. Using these abilities can also contribute to solving problems in Lulua’s Alchemy Riddle, unlocking new recipes and skills. Attackers start combat in a formation, which can awaken a Primal Art that gives bonuses such as increased damage for the battle.
Alchemists in the party have access to the Interrupt ability, which lets them perform a special skill and use a pre-defined item even when it isn’t their turn. The ability can be triggered once a gauge is filled by performing attacks, and will not result in the item being consumed.
Atelier Lulua sees the series return to the setting of Arland. The game will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch in North America on May 21, 2019, with a European release to follow on May 24, 2019. A limited edition is available to pre-order through Koei Tecmo’s partnership with NIS America, while those who purchase the game either digitally or physically within the first month of launch will receive the exclusive “Innocent Fairy” and “Fish Girl” costumes for Lulua.
Looks nice! I need to return to this series, it’s calling me.
