God Eater 3 Receives More Story, Assault Mission Details

Bandai Namco has provided new information and screenshots for the upcoming action RPG God Eater 3. The new details provide some further information on the game’s story and the new eight-player Assault Missions. The new screenshots also include looks at character customisation and the some of the game’s full-animated cutscenes.

God Eater 3 is centered around the ever-expanding region called the Ashlands that has been created as part of the apocalyptic Aragami outbreak that forms the series setting. Regular God Eaters — special forces that fight back against the Aragami — are unable to survive in the Ashlands, so humanity has developed Adaptive God Eaters (AGE) who have a specific resistance to the Ashlands. Compatibility tests to become an AGE have a very low success rate, however, both the main character and their friend Hugo manage to pass the tests.

Gleipnir is the organisation that oversees the AGE, and is the successor to the previous organisation Fenrir from the previous two games. It is headed by new character Abraham Gadolin, formerly a high-ranking member of Fenrir and an ex-God Eater. He is planning to retake the former headquarters of Fenrir that was swallowed by the Ashlands outbreak.

One of the new threats appearing in the Ashland is a new Counter-Adaptive type of Aragami. One of these is Navad Nuadha, that can generate electricity and use it for powerful ranged attacks, as well as using devour attacks. These Counter-Adaptive types only appear in densely-concentrated areas of the Ashlands, which means that AGE can only fight against them for up to five minutes. This means that Gleipnir sends out a stronger party of eight God Eaters for the special Assault Missions as opposed to the regular four to try and counter the limited time-frame.

When players accept an Assault Mission, the game searches for seven other players to join players. Assault Missions are designed that even if the mission does not succeed, the information gained about the enemy in that time will prove useful for future attempts, and failed missions will still provide rewards, though less that for successful ones.

God Eater 3 is set to be released for PlayStation 4 in Japan on December 13, 2018. The game will be released in North America and Europe for PlayStation 4 and PC in early 2019.
