Destiny 2’s Next Expansion Is Forsaken

Bungie has revealed the next major expansion for its FPS RPG Destiny 2. The upcoming expansion will be called Forsaken and will bring players back to the Reef, a lawless corner of the galaxy. There they will explore two new locations as they discover new weapons, armor, Supers, and the cause of the recent unrest in the area.

A new endgame mode will be added known as Gambit. The mode will be a four against four hybrid of PvE and PvP content. Each team will inhabit separately instanced arenas, facing off against waves of enemies. As they kill enemies, the team will collect motes of energy. Each arena will have a bank where motes can be stored by players, eventually allowing for the summoning of a primeval whose defeat signals the end of the round. Storing motes in the bank can also lock down the opposing team’s bank and give a team an opportunity to send over a single teammate to directly interfere in the other team’s arena. There is also the Dreaming City, a new area which is built from the ground up to support endgame content and will launch with a brand new raid.

Destiny 2 will launch on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC exclusively via Battle.net on September 4, 2018. The expansion will be priced at $39.99 with two bundle options for more content. The Annual Pass Bundle will be available at $69.99 while the Digital Deluxe Edition will be available at $79.99 and feature added premium content. The PlayStation 4 version of the game will also be home to several timed exclusive pieces of content: one strike, one gear set per class, a new ship, and an exotic weapon. Upon Forsaken‘s release, all previously timed exclusive content will be made available on all platforms.
