Stardew Valley Multiplayer Beta Now Available

Developer ConcernedApe has released a beta version of its upcoming multiplayer patch for Stardew Valley. The beta is available to download now on Steam (soon on GOG.com). Existing save files will work with the beta, though if saved afterwards will not be compatible with the previous full version of the game.

In order to invite others to their existing farm, players will need to build cabins, one for each additional player up to a maximum of three. Once these are built, players can return to the start screen, open the co-op menu and select the save file from the host tab. Alternatively, players can start a new farm from the co-op tab, which will come with cabins already built. More details about the beta and how multiplayer works can be found on the developer’s official blog.

Stardew Valley was originally released for PC in early 2016, and has since also been released for Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with a Vita release planned for 2018. The sandbox farming sim sees players taking over the grandfather’s old farm, spending their time interacting with NPCs, planting crops, exploring caves, fishing, etc.
