Kickstarter Check-In: Queen’s Wish, Temtem

RPGamer’s ad hoc Kickstarter Check-In feature returns for a look at two ongoing crowdfunding campaigns. This edition features Spiderweb Software’s Queen’s Wish: The Conquerer and Crema’s Temtem.

Queen’s Wish: The Conquerer

Developer Spiderweb Software, developer of the cRPG Avadon and Avernum series, has announced and begun a crowdfunding campaign for its newest title, Queen’s Wish: The Conquerer. Queen’s Wish is planned to be the first in a trilogy of titles, with Spiderweb Software promising that the game will keep the theme of player freedom and the old-school graphical and gameplay style of its previous titles.

Queen’s Wish puts players in the role of the youngest child Queen Sharyn, the absolute leader of the Empire of Haven. After generally avoiding the intrigue and machinations of their elder siblings, the player character is forced into a position of power and sent to live in the wild land of Sacramentum. Players will be able to devote their efforts as they wish, potentially following the queen’s desire in rebuilding Haven’s colony or abandoning Haven to join the people of Sacramentum.

Queen’s Wish is being developed for PC, Mac, iPad, and potentially iPhone, with a release planned in 2019. The Kickstarter campaign has already passed its $30,00 funding goal and runs until June 29, 2018. Those who pledge at least $20 will receive a copy of the game as part of their backer rewards.

Temtem

Crema’s Temtem is an multiplayer creature-raising RPG heavily inspired by Pokémon. The game takes place on the Airborne Archipelago’s six islands, with players looking to become the greatest trainer of monsters known as Temtem.

Temtem is not shy about emulating various aspects of its inspiration, with players tasked with defeating the leaders of eight Dojos, coming across wild creatures by running through long grass, and facing off against the troublesome Clan Belsoto. Temtem can come from twelve different elemental types, certain types being strong against certain others. Combat features parties of up to six Temtem facing off, though only two are active at a time on each side. The game also features breeding and evolution.

Temtem looks to differentiate itself with an MMO aspect to the game. Players will see others wandering around locations, with whom they can trade or battle. The story campaign also features co-op, with two players partnering together to catch new Temtem, go through locations, or fight against leaders. Players can also buy and decorate their own houses.

Crema is looking for $70,000 in funding for Temtem, with the campaign set to run until July 2, 2018. The game is currently being developed for PC and initially planned for release in 2020. Those who pledge at least $20 will receive a copy of the game as part of their backer rewards.
