Arc System Works Provides Wizard’s Symphony Images, Info

Japanese developer and publisher Arc System Works has released the first details and images for its recently-announced dungeon-crawler Wizard’s Symphony. A revival of Arc System Works’ Wizard’s Harmony series, which featured three titles released in Japan in the late 1990s, Wizard’s Symphony is set twenty years after the events of the original game in a fantasy world that is currently experiencing an economic bubble as a result of an increased number of adventurers.

The main protagonist, Alto Traverse, is a tour guide for historic ruins from the magical city of Glasoska, which was said to have been destroyed in a single night a millenium ago, near the city of Kazan. Alto is joined in the game by two colleagues, the upbeat warrior Spika Celeste and the magic-using Merak Yildiz. In the first portion of the game, Alto comes across a girl,¬†Astel, sleeping in the ruins. She is an amnesiac, but called Alto her master for unknown reasons. The characters are all designed by Moo, the character designer for the Wizard’s Harmony games.

Wizard’s Symphony is a first-person dungeon-crawler with a command-based combat system. Combat is turn-based, with party members having access to various skills and spells. Wizard’s Symphony also featuring an affinity system similar to its predecessors that has an influence on combat. The game is fully-voiced in Japanese and mixes both serious and comedic events, including event illustrations also designed by Moo, and while exploring dungeons characters may have conversations. Players will be able to visit towns to accept quests and purchase items.

Wizard’s Symphony is being developed for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch and is planned for release in Japan in 2018. No announcement has been made regarding a western release.
