Developed by Quintet, Terranigma was originally released in Japan in 1995 by Enix. Due to the closure of Enix’s North American branch, the game was never released there, but did get a European and Australian release in 1996 courtesy of Nintendo. The game tells the story of the resurrection of Earth, which at the time of the game is divided between the external Lightside and internal Darkside. It follows Ark, a young boy from the Darkside village of Crysta and unaware of the outside world, who opens a forbidden door and sets world-changing events into motion.
The new release will include a brand new “Arranged Mode” for the game, which will add a variety of tweaks to the game, such as increased magic damage, a mini map, and the ability to save progress at any time. The new version will also add a CRT filter and multiple aspect ratios, plus numerous quality-of-life features, including a quick magic button, item hot-swap, customisable backgrounds, a music player, a museum, a rewind function, and remappable controls.
