Matelotes Coming to Steam Early Access Early Next Year
Publisher ARTE France and developer La Poule Noire have announced whimsical medieval roguelite RPG Matelotes. The game is planned to release on Steam Early Access in early 2027, with a limited-time demo available to play until August 30, 2026.
Matelotes is set in the Kingdom of Sauzic, which is in an unprecedented crisis after the Royal Hen vanishes. The game follows a crew of sailors who sail across the kingdom’s islands in search of clues. Players recruit and develop their crew while encountering and deciding whether to support or sabotage four different factions. The game features a procedurally-generated sea and island map, with players needing to deal with route planning, resource management, unexpected disasters, and internal conflicts.
