Onimusha: Way of the Sword Release Brought Forward Three Weeks

Capcom announced that it has brought forward the release of action RPG Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Previously slated to launch on September 25, 2026, the game will now release for PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2 on September 4, 2026. Those who purchase the game’s Standard, Deluxe, or Premium Deluxe editions before September 24, 2026, will receive in-game cosmetic charm and sword appearances as rewards.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is the first new entry in the series in 20 years. It takes place in an alternate dark fantasy Japan where samurai battle against the supernatural. The game follows Miyamoto Musashi, who is armed with a mystical Oni Gauntlet and battles demons invading Edo-period Kyoto. Those looking to read more about the game can check out Jordan McClain’s impression from this year’s SGF Play Days event. A demo is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
