Happy Bastards Gets Trailer, Combat Demo

Developer Clever Plays released a new trailer for its open-world tactical RPG Happy Bastards. The 90-second video gives a look at its irreverent attitude and combat. It comes alongside the release of a new combat demo, which is available on Steam.

Happy Bastards casts players as a shamelessly opportunist mercenary leader seeking fame and fortune. The game features a sandbox campaign, with players interacting with towns, heroes, and monsters, which have their own dynamic reactions. Players recruit procedurally-generated mercenaries, which can be trained into twenty classes, with players having to deal with injuries, dismemberment, and permadeath. Combat takes place in small battlefields where elevation plays a key role. A full demo is expected to release later this year.
