Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate Gets Trailer, Livestream
Bungie held a new developer livestream for online shooter RPG Destiny 2‘s upcoming The Edge of Fate expansion. The hour-long livestream features a look at the expansion’s new World Tiers system, its new location of Kepler, new destination-specific abilities, new combat encounters, new combatants, the new streamlined Portal access point, and more. It also comes with a new early launch trailer for the expansion, which releases on July 15, 2025, for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
The Edge of Fate is part of the Destiny 2′s “Year of Prophecy” content, which begins a new multi-year Fate Saga for the game. It will be followed by the Ash & Iron free major update on September 9, 2025, the Renegades paid expansion on December 2, 2025, and the Shadow & Order free major update on March 3, 2026.
Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate introduces the Nine, powerful beings that existed long before the Traveler, and sees players taking on a new threat predating their knowledge of the past. It involves two major characters: new ally Lodi, who hails from a distant location, and the legendary Warlock Vanguard Ikora. The expansion will take players to the new location of Kepler, which is said to be “inspired by the puzzle-solving and pathfinding challenges” of Destiny 2’s dungeons and to encourage exploration. Dark matter energy is a key element of Kepler, granting new abilities to players. These include the Matterspark ability, which lets them change forms to squeeze through spaces or dash across terrain; the Relocator Cannon, which lets them teleport across the environment; and Mattermorph, which lets them manipulate their surroundings.
