Hyper Light Breaker’s Buried Below Early Access Update Available Now

Arc Games and Heart Machine have released their latest Early Access update for action RPG Hyper Light Breaker. The “Buried Below” update includes new playable Breaker — Rondo, who comes with a new SyCom — as well as a new Crown enemy, two new weapons, and additional explorable environments.

In addition, the update features an overhaul of the game’s run structure. The game will now involve a more roguelike structure; players have a single life for each run and will lose items in their inventory upon defeat, with the Overgrowth being reset. The developer stated that this will make runs more consistent as well as allow the team to adjust difficulty more easily. Other adjustments been made along with the overhaul, including allowing players to extract from any Shrine in the Overgrowth, reworking of SyComs and character abilities to give them a more class-like feel, and further adjustments to inventory and vendors.

Hyper Light Breaker is set in the same universe as Hyper Light Drifter but tells a separate story in a new land known as the Overgrowth. It features single-player and co-op multiplayer as players control Breakers looking to overthrow the Abyss King. While surviving the mysterious Crowns and helping develop their home settlement, players explore large biomes and pick up items and weapons to create their character builds.
