Gothic 1 Remake Making of Video Discusses Old vs. New

THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive released a new behind-the-scenes video for the upcoming Gothic 1 Remake. The fifteen-minute video, titled “Old vs. New”, discusses the team’s decision making for elements that should remain as they were in the original game, and which ones should be expanded upon.

The Gothic 1 Remake is being developed for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X, though a release window has not been announced. The original game was developed by Piranha Bytes and released for PC in 2001, with a Nintendo Switch port released in 2023. The game is an action RPG set in a medieval fantasy realm where anyone found breaking the law is sent to the giant penal colony of Khorinis to mine the much needed ore for a war effort against an Orcish invasion. It spawned two official follow-ups, as well as the Arcania spin-off that was originally titled Arcania: Gothic 4.
