Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy Heading West This Year

Idea Factory International announced that it will be releasing Compile Heart and Sting’s dungeon-crawler Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy in North America and Europe. The game, previously reported as Madou Monogatari: Fia and the Mysterious School and which launched in Japan last year, will release physically and digitally on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch later this year.

Mado Monogatari: Fia and the Wondrous Academy is the latest entry in the Mado Monogatari dungeon-crawler franchise that started in 1990, with the previous title being released in the west as Sorcery Saga: Curse of the Great Curry God in 2013. It follows a girl named Fia, who has managed to enroll at the Ancient Magic Academy after making the long journey from her hometown. She aims to become a Great Mage but first must overcome the challenges of her schoolwork, professors, and certain odd happenings while trying to make friends.

Players traverse randomly-generated dungeons, participating in battles that mix turn-based and real-time elements. During combat, players use Magic Artes and collect Elemental Orbs to fill up a gauge with which they can cast Great Magic Artes. The Grimoire is used to unlock more Magic Artes as players complete assignments and quests to obtain learning points. In addition, players can explore the school grounds to find mini-games, interact with classmates, grow ingredients, cook curries for boosts when dungeon-crawling, craft new equipment, and more.
