Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released in the last week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Across the Obelisk

Co-op roguelite deck-building RPG Across the Obelisk features single player or co-op with up to three others as the party takes its own path across the world that branches based on their decisions. It features sixteen playable characters, over 500 upgradeable cards, and over 200 items.

Backpacking survival RPG Albatroz sees a young woman named Isla on her quest to find her lost brother, who mysteriously disappeared during his search for the mythical Albatroz Mountain. The player explores different landscapes, each with their own weather and hazards, and visits villages where they can prepare for their next ventures in the wild. The game features resource management as well as character customisation through the skills and equipment acquired.


Mario & Luigi: Brothership

The latest entry in the Mario & Luigi series, Mario & Luigi: Brothership tasks the duo with reconnecting the floating islands that formerly made up Concordia. The duo can use Bros. Moves to get past obstacles, such as combining into a ball or throwing ice/fire balls. Players can also make use of unconventional Luigi Logic to help with puzzles, boss fights, and finding items.


Metal Slug Tactics

Metal Slug Tactics is a tactical RPG spin-off to the Metal Slug side-scrolling run-and-gun series. The game sees the Peregrine Falcon Squad fighting on isometric maps. The game will feature other elements from its parent series, such as settings, weapons, environmental damage, and villains, along with skill trees, perks, super attacks, and roguelite elements. Mirthwood

Open-world life-sim RPG Mirthwood puts players in the role of a refugee from a war-torn continent, and sees them select their own path through non-linear progression in an open world. Available activities and goals include building up a homestead complete with a farm, which helps generate produce to sell to the local town or to trade with others, and exploring forests or ruins while taking on formidable creatures for additional resources. The game includes an NPC relationship system leading to rewards, quests, and potentially romance.


Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle Remastered

Phantom Brave: The Hermuda Triangle is a tactical RPG that follows 13-year-old Marona, who lives on an island on the oceanic world of Ivoire with her guardian phantom Ash. Marona earns a living by working as a Chroma, effectively a mercenary for hire. The game features a turn-based combat system with a gridless map that makes heavy use of the environment’s traction, or lack thereof. A sequel, Phantom Brave: The Lost Hero, is set to release in January 2025.


River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next

Beat-’em-up title River City Saga: Three Kingdoms Next is a sequel to 2021’s River City Saga: Three and puts the cast of the Kunio-kun series into a version of Romance of the Three Kingdoms, a historical novel set at the end of the Han dynasty in China. It sees Kunio once again taking on the role of Guan Yu, with the game’s event covering six chapters from the Yellow Turban Rebellion to the Battle of Red Cliffs. Players can unleash special attacks as well as utilise ten different tactics while gaining experience and powering up their characters.


Sengoku Dynasty

Simulation RPG Sengoku Dynasty features an open-world with multiple biomes, where players can build up their villages into thriving towns or cities, helping to grow and manage their communities as well as doing what they can to meet their needs. Players can take on the role of leader, craftsman, warrior, or spiritual master and start their own family. A console release is planned for 2025.


Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate

Action roguelike Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Splintered Fate features four-player co-op as the turtles set out to rescue Splinter from the clutches of the Foot Clan, travelling to various locales through mysterious portals.
