More Disco Elysium Successors Revealed

In addition to Longdue’s reveal that it is working on a Disco Elysium spiritual successor, two other newly-formed studios revealed their own plans for spiritual successors to the game. Dark Math Games provided the most substantial reveal with its title XXX Nightshift. Founded in 2023, its development team is said to contain twenty members, of which half worked on Disco Elysium or its Final Cut release.

XXX Nightshift is a choice-driven detective RPG set in an original sci-fi setting, taking place at World’s End Ski Resort on Mount Hope, Antarctica in the year 2086 CE. Players control a Patrol Op who becomes stranded at the resort alongside various guests and secrets. Players build a character by combining twenty “Traces” over four categories, and can elect to investigate solo or with a partner using the game’s companion dynamic. The game does not yet have a release window, but is available to wishlist on Steam.

Meanwhile, Summer Eternal is a newly-established, self-described art collective / RPG studio. It includes writers, the senior concept artist, and the graphic designer from Disco Elysium among its members. It has not yet announced any projects, though its website indicates that a crowdfunding campaign is planned in the future.
