The First Descendant Faces Invasion in Its Season 1 Update

Publisher and developer Nexon revealed a major update for their free-to-play RPG The First Descendant. The Season 1: Invasion update is planned to release on August 29, 2024, and comes with two new Descendants (Hailey and Ultimate Freyna), two ultimate weapons, a new type of dungeon, a new boss battle, and more.

Hailey is a supply soldier in the guerilla unit and a skilled sniper. She is armed with an anti-material sniper rifle, sub-zero bullets, and a storm snare. She has the ability to lower her body temperature and emit cold air. Meanwhile, by harnessing the power of Arche’s toxicity, Freyna turns into a more powerful Descendent known as Ultimate Freyna. She has a skill named Room Zero Trauma, which is related to her backstory player can learn in the new update. Excava and Frost Watcher are the latest ultimate weapons. Excava, which charges voltage that can be converted into an energy grenade, is available as a Battle Pass reward. Frost Watcher is a scout rifle reducing chill resistance and enhancing the damage of the player’s chilling skills. It is obtainable through Season 1 content.

Players will also be able to undertake new “Invasion Dungeon” challenges. They can occur randomly in two dungeons of the Hard Difficulty Infiltration Operations. They are designed to disrupt the Descendent’s operations and offer rewards based on how quickly they are cleared. In addition, players will be able to unlock new potentials and abilities for their Descendants thanks to the Inversion Reinforcement, which is available upon encountering the Iron Heart. The new void intercept boss battle will pit players against Death Stalker, a Colossus lurking in the darkness and unleashing attacks laced with venom.

The First Descendant takes place in a world that mixes sci-fi and fantasy, and features co-op for up to four players. Players control a Descendant, one tasked with defending the Ingris continent and fighting against alien invaders to help ensure the survival of humanity. Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
