Darkest Dungeon II To Receive Physical Release

Developer and publisher Red Hook Studios is partnering with Skybound Games to release a physical edition of its turn-based roguelike Darkest Dungeon II. The title will launch physically on October 22, 2024, on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The physical edition is priced at $39.99/39,99 €/£34.99/179.00 zł, with pre-orders currently available. It will include a physical copy of the game, a stagecoach model, and a redemption code for the game’s soundtrack.

A follow-up to 2016 turn-based roguelike Darkest Dungeon, Darkest Dungeon II sees players tasked with guiding a stagecoach expedition across a decaying landscape to try and avert the apocalypse. The game features a refined version of the previous game’s combat with a new Token System. Each failed run grants resources that can be used on upgrades for future attempts. The game also includes an affinity system between party members, and players can learn more about their heroes’ backstories.

A digital version of Darkest Dungeon II is currently available on PC (via Steam, GOG.com, and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. Those looking to read more about the title can check out Ryan Costa’s review of its PC release.

Fascinated by the screens since I saw them, video games are a sorcery I quickly became obsessed with. This passion culminated with the discovery of the RPGs. At that time, they were likely the sole titles where story and world building mattered as much as gameplay. Now, I am writing about them, especially my favorite ones: the JRPGs!
