New Release Round-Up (February 15, 2024)

Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.


Banchou Tactics

Tactical RPG Banchou Tactics is inspired by the Crows manga, River City Ransom, and Final Fantasy Tactics and follows a conflict between high school delinquents. It is set around the fights between students of Sakae High School, Nakamura Technical High School, and Minato High School. The game stars Taiga Arashi of Minato High School and takes place after the graduation of Kitagawa Seiichi, the “demon king” of Minato High School, which causes a power struggle between the three schools.


Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden

Action RPG Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden is set in the fictional North American wilds of New Eden at the end of the 17th century. It follows Antea Duarte and Red mac Raith, lovers who work as Banishers, spirit hunters that protect people from lingering spirits. However, Antea becomes a ghost and Red must decide whether to honour his Banisher oath or attempt to bring Antea back.


Dragon Quest Builders

Platform: PC (previously released on PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android)

Dragon Quest Builders is a crafting-focused action RPG spin-off to the Dragon Quest series. The game is set in Alefgard, the world of the first Dragon Quest game, after it was destroyed by the evil Dragonlord, with players tasked with helping the populace rebuild. Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 in Another World

Platform: PC

Dungeon crawler Dungeon Travelers: To Heart 2 in Another World was originally released for PlayStation Portable in Japan in 2010. The game is a spin-off to the To Heart 2 romance visual novel and sees its characters transported to a fantasy RPG world where they must defeat its final boss to escape. The series received two other titles, Dungeon Travelers 2: The Royal Library & the Monster Seal and Dungeon Travelers 2-2: The Fallen Maidens & the Book of Beginnings, which remove the connection to To Heart 2.


Genso Chronicles

Genso Chronicles is a turn-based reto-styled RPG. The game follows Light, a resident of Selka Village, who joins the military and vows to protect his village. However, the village is soon attacked and reduced to ruins. In his despair, Light encounters a guardian beast and enters a magical contract to get stronger.


The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III / IV

Platform: PlayStation 5 (previously released on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch)

Nihon Falcom’s The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel III and The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel IV take place two years after the events of Trails of Cold Steel II. The games see previous protagonist Rean Schwarzer take on the role of an instructor at the new Thors Military Academy Branch Campus in the Erebonian Empire, becoming leader of the new Class VII.
