Dragon’s Dogma 2 Releasing in March, More Details Provided

Capcom held a new showcase presentation for action RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2. During the presentation, hosted by director Hideaki Itsuno and producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, Capcom announced a March 22, 2024, release date for the game, which will be available on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Capcom also provided plenty of new details and footage about the game. In addition to the details, the full set of screenshots and a new trailer can be found below, while the full showcase can be viewed on YouTube.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 tells a new tale of the Arisen, a champion who has their heart is stolen by the Dragon. The game takes place in a parallel world to the original Dragon’s Dogma and Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen. It is home to two major nations that approach the threat of the Dragon in different ways.

In the kingdom of Vermund, Queen Regent Disa has installed a false Arisen to ensure she and her son maintain control of the kingdom. Meanwhile, the beastren nation of Battahl considers the Arisen’s otherwordly Pawn allies as a source of misfortune and worship Empress Nadinia and the Lambent Flame to protect themselves. The game also features other locations, such as the elven enclave of Sacred Arbor, where players will need to rely on Pawns who know the elven language to translate for them.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 will feature an upgraded character creation system to create both their player character Arisen and their main Pawn ally. Players can also choose their personality of their main Pawn, which will impact their behaviour and conversation choices. Players can be joined by two other Pawns recruited from other players and use their abilities and knowledge.

The presentation also revealed a new Pawn-exclusive Vocation (class), the Trickster. It is able to use its unique Censer weapon to conjure illusions, deceive enemies, and power up allies. It also highlighted the returning Warrior and Sorcerer Vocations available for both players and Pawns. The Warrior is a physical fighter specialising in two-handed weapons and direct combat. The Sorcerer is a magic attacker that wields a staff, and powerful spells that can change the tide of battle.

Capcom also showed new powerful enemies appearing in the game. The Talos is a massive bronze golem that causes destruction with a single step, and players will need to make use of their party’s abilities and the surrounding terrain to take it down. Meanwhile, the Dullahan is a headless spectre that can immobilise its targets before attacking them with its blade, and Drakes are powerful dragons that can breathe fire and take to the skies.

Alongside the March release date, Capcom also announced a Deluxe Edition for the game, with pre-orders available now. The Deluxe Edition will cost $79.99 (with the standard edition costing $69.99) and include the “New Journey Pack” in-game item set. All pre-orders will also include a set of bonus weapons for the game’s four starting Vocations.
