Nintendo 3DS, Wii U Online Services Shutting Down in April

Nintendo announced that it will be discontinuing online functionality for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U software in early April 2024. This will include online play, internet rankings, and data distribution futures. The Pokémon Bank and Poké Transporter will continue to operate for the foreseeable future but may end at some point.

In a Q&A posted with the announcement, Nintendo stated that players will still be able to play title offline, as well as download update data and redownload purchased software and downloadable content. StreetPass functionality will continue, as it uses local communication, but SpotPass features will no longer be available as is uses online communication.
