Dragon’s Dogma 2 Shows More Gameplay

Capcom released new gameplay footage for action RPG Dragon’s Dogma 2. The nine-minute gameplay deep dive video is introduced by Director Hideaki Itsuno, who guides viewers through the combat and Pawn system — players joined by up to three otherwordly beings called Pawns — as well as detailing the game’s vocations and setting.

Players can choose from four starting vocations for their character: Fighter, Mage, Thief, or Archer. Players can change their vocation at any time by visiting a Vocation Guild. Players will also be able to unlock new vocations as they progress through the game, including Magick Archer and Mystic Spearhand, which are only available to the player character.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 takes place in a world with two main nations: Vermund, the humand kingdom, and Battahl, the land of beastren. Vermund has been ruled for generations by the Arisen who are able to slay the Dragon. It has lush green hills and a fortified capital. Meanwhile, the canyon nation of Battahl’s capital is built upon ancient ruins. Players will find different environments and monsters across the two nations, as well as quests from those they meet on their adventures. If one of their Pawn companions has knowledge relevant to a quest, they will offer to help guide players to the destination. Meanwhile, nighttime provides its own increased dangers compared to daylight, encouraging players to find a campsite rather than continue into the darkness.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a follow-up to 2012’s Dragon’s Dogma — which later received an expanded version titled Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen — and is in development for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. A release window has not yet been announced.
