NetEase Games Announces Project Mugen

Chinese-based developer NetEase Games announced open-world urban action RPG Project Mugen. The game is in development alongside Thunder Fire Studio’s NAKED RAIN subsidiary for PC, iOS, Android, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. It will be released as a free-to-play title and is available for pre-registration, but does not yet have a release date.

Project Mugen is set on an Earth-like world where humanity coexists with the supernatural. Players control an Esper, known as the “Infinite Trigger”. They are a top investigator of anomalies and supernatural events that threaten the balance in the world’s cities. Players will team up with other Espers to take on the Chaos, while exploring city life and unlocking lost memories.

The game will feature a vast open map covering neon nightlife to green parks, including skyscrapers and subways. Players have multiple ways to get around, including parkour, swinging, and wallclimbing, as well as vehicles. Combat is team-based, with players having a party of four characters and being able to use environmental objects and terrain to aid them.
