Megaton Musashi Goes Free-to-Play in Japan

Level-5 announced a free-to-play iteration of its mecha action RPG Megaton Musashi. Titled Megaton Musashi X, the title will include the full-price release of the base game as well as all of its post-launch updates. In addition, new story elements, gameplay systems, and robots will be added. Those who previously purchased the full-price game will receive a discount on a special item set, including exclusive robots. Megaton Musashi X will release in Japan on December 1, 2022. A western release has not been announced.

Megaton Musashi released in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on November 11, 2021. It sees players controlling giant mechas fighting against alien invaders. The game is set after 2118, when alien invaders called Dracters gain total control of Earth, mining it out into a torus-like shape.
