CyberConnect2 Unveils Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2

Following its initial announcement last week, Cyberconnect2 officially unveiled the first details and media for Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2. The game is a direct sequel to last year’s Little Bronx Tail title Fuga: Melodies of Steel. It is planned for release worldwide in 2023 for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. The game will release with Japanese, English, and French language support, with Spanish, Italian, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, German, Korean, LATAM Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian to be added later.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel takes place in a setting inspired by France during World War II. The game follows a group of eleven children in command of a tank as they aim to rescue their captured families. The tank has a very powerful weapon, the Soul Cannon, but using it requires one of the characters to sacrifice themselves. The game won Best Turn-Based RPG and Most Overlooked RPG in RPGamer’s 2021 awards.

Fuga: Melodies of Steel 2 takes place a year after the events of the previous game. Despite the first game’s conclusion, the children’s battles have not ended, and they once again head into battle on board a giant tank. Their previous tank, the Taranis, has gone out of control, and so they board the Tarascus to try to save their friends trapped inside. The sequel will feature similar turn-based combat to the previous title, with Cyberconnect2 promising a ramped-up battle system and a brand new event system.

In addition, CyberConnect2 announced the Fuga: Melodies of Steel Archives book, containing development notes, setting documentation, and artwork. The 208-page book will release in October 2022 and include Japanese and English text. It is available to pre-order through CyberConnect2’s international shop from now until September 22, 2022. The standard edition costs ¥4,180, while a Collector’s Edition costs ¥13,200 and also includes a large stuffed Pawbun pouch, an acrylic stand, a keychain, a 100-page four-frame manga, and a collector’s box. A digital version of the book will also be released.
