New Release Round-Up (May 5, 2022)
Welcome to RPGamer’s new release round-up. In this column we look to provide our readers with details on all of the RPGs released over the week. Please note we do not currently include Early Access releases where the game is still in development.
Age of Grit
Steampunk RPG Age of Grit puts players in the role of Jebediah Rockwell, captain of a beat-up airship. Players take Jebediah and his crew across the game’s world, upgrading the airship by earning money in a variety of ways including trading, bounty hunting, scavenging, and more, with the game featuring turn-based airship combat. It was originally announced through a Kickstarter campaign in 2014 and had been in Early Access since 2019.
Tabletop-inspired sci-fi RPG Citizen Sleeper casts players as a digitised human consciousness in an artificial body, on the run from the corporation that owns them. They end up on Erlin’s Eye, a ruined space station on the edges of the interstellar capitalist society. In order to survive and remain out of the clutches of the corporation, players need to find work and build relationships with individuals and factions on the station.
Loot River is an action roguelike that draws inspiration from Dark Souls and Tetris. It sees players working through a series of procedurally-generated dungeons as they visit floating ruins. Players use the Relic to move the ruins together through sliding puzzles.
Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters
Turn-based tactical RPG Warhammer 40,000: Chaos Gate – Daemonhunters features a story written by author Aaron Dembski-Bowden and follows the secret Grey Knights chapter of the Space Marines. The Grey Knights find themselves called upon to deal with the spread of a plague called the Bloom, travelling the galaxy and determining which planets will survive in their efforts to stop the Bloom.
